BIRMINGHAM AUTHOR A. FAYE BOYKIN TO SPEAK AT TALLADEGA COLLEGE

The motivational speaker and author will serve as the keynote speaker for the College’s April 7th Convocation.

 Talladega, Alabama – One of Birmingham’s most influential motivational speakers and authors Ms. A. Faye Boykin is scheduled to be the guest speaker at Talladega College’s “Women Changing the World” Convocation. Boykin, who is also a former native of Talladega, will bring the keynote address to the faculty, staff, and students on Tuesday, April 7th at 11:00 a.m.

The “Women Changing the World” Convocation is just one of many activities the College will host during its week long celebration of women. The festivities will kickoff with a round table discussion on Monday, April 6th at 6:00 p.m. in Fanning. On Wednesday, April 8th, a campus-wide health fair will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

A graduate of Tuskegee University, Boykin has unexplainable determination, and an indomitable will. She’s a high-energy speaker whose enthusiasm is contagious and inspirational. As we close out this year my my spirit gave me the theme “Follow Your Heart. The scriptures teach us in Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is there your heart will also be.” In 2009 do things you always wanted to do and when in doubt “Follow Your Heart.”  

 

We follow roads that lead nowhere

We follow people that don’t even care

We follow trust but don’t trust ourselves

We follow debt forgetting about wealth

We follow trains but fall off the track

We follow movies but don’t know how to act

We follow the past as it’s filled with sorrow

If we look into today we can find tomorrow

We follow questions? When we know the answers

We follow ignorance an educational cancer

We follow lights that don’t even shine

If darkness comes will you see the signs?

We follow words that have no say

We follow birds that won’t fly our way

If you follow pain you will get a knife

Ask yourself, What do you want out of life?

 

Look in the mirror and give yourself a start,

It’s time to wake up and “Follow Your Heart”
